Scrappy WIP is going........ backwards! Yes backwards. None of my tall rows lined up right with my short rows :/ so here I am seeing the rainbow way to much as I unstitch each row one by one. I've figured piecing it back together in groups of 4 - tall tall short short. As you can see on the left things are lining up much better this way. I did find the perfect fabric in my stash to use as the backing.

the last 5 days

So we awake Wednesday to this beautiful snow :)

Luke loved it too!

We then awoke on Thursday to no power.
We got to make coffee the super fun way ;)
Then hey what beats breakfast on the grill. Potatoes, sausage & eggs cooked right there in one pot on one burner.
We stayed home most of Thursday, we decided to head out but after driving around we realize everyone was w/o power too. We found one resturant open anf had a nice warm dinner. We did sleep nat home and tried to function on Friday but we started to get cold quick, the house was losing heat pretty fast. At about noon it was 47 inside. Thankfully hubby had a friend who had a hotel in a nearby city and invited us over. We packed up and headed out, the trees were down everywhere, power lines were hanging, the back roads to base were closed. After 2 hours we finally made it (normally a 45-60 min drive). Get to the hotel just to find out they are w/o power too. We made do, cooked up chicken gumbo & rice on the camping stove. Watched a movie on the laptop and hit the beds early. Saturday hubby got called in- since they didnt work all week- I headed to the house, let the dogs out, cleaned out the freezers since they were defrosted, took a shower, got the proprane filled, feed the kids lunch. We headed out to stay the night in Lacey. Here it is Sunday, I get home first thing to find lights on! say what? yep power is restored. I set up the heater, cleaned up a bit, went grocery shopping and we are home. In our nice warm beds, watching netflix, uploading a few pics, well I'm still up- all are asleep and snoring away.
I will need to call the landlord, theres tree branches all over the roof and in the gutters....

22-365

How fun!
I've never seen anything like this before.

Finally got power back today, heated up the house, let the dogs out, headed back into town to get gas & the kids.
This is what I see as I'm pumping gas :P

17-365 & ~Tasty Tuesday~ all in one

Beef & 3 Bean Chili !

So perfect for this freezing snowy day.

Quick and easy I tell you.

Package of Chili seasoning
1 Onion-chopped
a couple Garlic Cloves-chopped
1 small can Tomato Sauce
1 regular can Tomatoes (here I used fire roasted)
1 can RoTel Tomatoes & Chiles

1 package Lean Ground Beef

I cook my own beans- black, kidney, red
I used 5 laddles worth-juice included
or of course canned works too

1 can black
1 can kidney
1 can red or pink

In my crockpot I heat up the beef, onions, garlic, seasoning.

Then just add in all the canned items plus 1 cup water.

Simmer 6 hours.

Serve with Fritos, shredded cheese, sour cream, jalapenos.........

Now to be gluten free just check your seasoning package and select a different one if needed, obviously to be dairy free leave off those select toppings, slightly lowcarb/primal due to the beans you could always eliminate those and of course the Fritos too

Scrappy Quilt wip

Step 3 done
(not in the picture but it is now)
6.5 x ....rows are sewn
1.5 x .... rows are sewn
I'm really liking the look of it, it is child sized,
now for backing thoughts, I looked through all my yardage, I'm going to go Gender Neutral with this, the backing is black based with an array of colors making up the ABC's with coordinating pictures, perfect match for the scrap solids

~Thankful Thursday~

Thankful for my one of a kind, handsome, smart, artistic, clever & sometimes sarcastic oldest son. First born of 4. Today you got yourself up at 3am, did your homework, ate breakfast, packed your lunch, got on the bus at 6:20. Got home at 2:45 turned around and got your 2nd brother off the bus, ate snack with him, played a game with him. Did a bit of homework after I got home, folded your clean laundry, came down for dinner, took your shower and here it is 7:09pm and your in bed.I Love You, I appreciate all that you do, you are so intellagent and a wonderful artistist. You have really grown & come into your own over the last few years. You speak your mind, question things that may not need questioning, suck up any & all information you can. You are a Junior this year, almost 17, an A/B student. You did the fall/winter drama play, waiting now for soccer season.

Good Morning Sunshines!

As much as I say I want to sleep alone-no more kids in the bed-stay in your bed.

This right here is why I'm so gullable to say ok come in just for tonight.

Granted they do fall asleep in their own beds, they stay there a few nights a week actually.

Here though J was with me & Lcame in when she got up- so 'bout 7

~Tasty Tuesday~ anytime egg

Yep-
the anytime egg-
this is so easy, quick and versitle anyone can make this.
We have had this for breakfast, lunch, snack and yes, even dinner.

In a small pan,
heat up a tad of oil/butter/spray (whatever you like to use).
Place in corn tortilla, cook until slightly golden & flip for a minute, move it to your plate.
Place in your favorite breakfast meat (pictured here is a thick ham slice) I love bacon, it can even be sausage, heat/cook through, place on tortilla.
Add on your favorite cheese to the meat (pictured here is pepperjack) or if your dairy free (like me) skip this step.
Heat up a tad more oil/butter/spray if needed, fry egg, or scramble it if you'd like, place on cheese.
Top it off with tomato, avocado, jalapeno (or not).

One of my goals this year-
learn more about quilting

First Quilt Block

I am so happy with how it turned out.
I lost 1/2 an inch some where but I added the small trim to the edge to make up for it. 12x12

I was quit impressed with how quick it came together

~Thankful Thursday~

Thankful for my one of a kind, beautiful, smart, charming, slightly evil, only daughter.

The very unexpected 4th child & the greatest Birthday gift ever!

Today you are pictured here pretending it's summer time- you're at the beach.

This was you getting ready for school, PreK class, at ABC Academy with your teachers Ms Klary & Mr Matt, you love attending there.

Tonight you helped cook the rice for dinner, added the rice, water, ginger powder & sesame oil. Then of course that's all you ate with seaweed pieces.

Right this minute you are screaming my name- from bed- it's 8:28

and you are fighting your sleep/bed time.

P.S. You are the Puzzle Queen!

I Love You,

Mom

Time for bed yet?

So I can wake up!
Woot! School starts tomorrow!
This was a long Winter Holiday for sure.
Mr was home on half days and had 2 4 days in a row. The monkeys were off from the 16th thru today. C planned out his work & play pretty well, J was starting to hint on cabin fever, L was honest and admitted missing school about 4 days ago. A is .... well .... locked up :( that boy!
We picked up a new to us Explorer-here's to hoping it helps the Mr's hip abit.
I decorated the outside with tons of white lights-just for them to keep blowing out every few hours. The tree was mine this year- I worked it up in Purples & Golds, vintage wooden ornaments and red bows. Just lovely I tell you. The house was also decorated in Wooden Objects only.
I'll get up a few pics shortly.
Christmas was a hit, we toned it down compaired to what we've done in the past. The kids got to ask "Santa" for one big thing, and ask "us" for a couple little items.
We stuck to it well.
Heres a toast (with my glass of Pinot) to a great Year ahead for us all and GoodNight.

The Three Kings came a few days early this year ;)
Of course the 2nd is not the 6th, well after talking it over, we agreed it was easier to have Epiphany tomorrow since school is still out and the Mr is home.
Yes our Kings fill our Stockings.

Happy New Year!

An online friend posted this today-
Thought I'd share it with you all too-
An Irish blessing for you all.
Wishing you always...
Walls for the wind,
A roof for the rain
And tea beside the fire.
Laughter to cheer you,
Those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire
